Trained Monkeys

Primatology.

Or what you might typically call an 'about' page.

Trained Monkeys is the brainchild of Paul Mullett, and is a central contact and reference point for my online self, projects from the past, what I'm involved in now, and may be in the future.

In the late 90s, after taking the brave and slightly scary step of packing in my nine-to-five job in a bank, I took it upon myself to teach myself web design. I love design, I love computers... It seemed the logical choice!

After a brief spell with a Milton Keynes based web design agency, I moved on to a forward thinking and enthusiastic IT and eLearning company based in Bedfordshire, UK. The work was challenging and varied, with a client base including the likes of Virgin Mobile and BMW. In a relatively short space of time I made my way to Project Manager, part of a small, but extremely talented team.

With help from an amazing team of moderators and helpers, MINI2, which began in 2001 as a small personal project, established itself as the leading global new MINI resource and community. What had began as a hobby became a full time, mostly night time, occupation.

Something had to give, and in 2003 I left my full time job to focus on my passion. That same year, my wife and I had our first child. Times they were a-changing for sure!

In late 2007, following a number of rebuked offers, MINI2 was acquired by AutoForums.com. While I can still be found on the forums and behind the scenes, this freed me up to pursue other interests, such as new MINI website, theSwitchback.com. That and our second child, born a few months later in early 2008!

After an opportunity not to be missed arose at a local online marketing agency, I currently work full time in Milton Keynes as "Webmaster" (cape and mask not included, sadly). While keeping my fingers in as many other pies as possible!

Already, aside from internet design, my path has lead me down the road of programming, editing, copywriting, SEO, multi-media development, project management, logo design, online marketing and sales... If I had to (or wanted to) to do it, I've done it! And I believe there's still so much more to achieve!
